2025 Member & Donor Impact

Thanks to our members—and the generous support of donors and trail riders—we’re able to keep the Mohican mountain bike trail in top, gnarly condition. Our primary goal is to keep the trail safe and reduce rain-related closures, which can lead to erosion, compaction, and soil displacement. Thoughtful trail design, construction, and ongoing maintenance remain central to sustaining the quality of our trail system.

Here’s a look at some of the major projects MMBC volunteers completed in 2025.

Volunteer time

In 2025, club members and trail riders contributed over 500 volunteer hours, with several new volunteers joining our efforts. Each week, we tackle trail repairs, remove downed trees, manage overgrowth, meet with ODNR, and handle other tasks that keep the trail safe and enjoyable for all riders.

Trail safety

In 2025, MMBC worked with Forestry and horse representatives to evaluate areas where mountain bike and equestrian traffic intersect. Discussions focused on safety, horse behavior, and ways to reduce conflicts and improve predictability for all trail users. Concept plans were developed, with additional approvals to follow.

The club also completed one improvement that required no further authorization: removing large boulders at a key intersection to eliminate an obstacle and allow MTB riders to stay focused on the horse crossing, enhancing safety for both groups.

Mile 17.5 reroute

Drainage is a priority every year, and we adjust our focus as conditions change. In 2025, we addressed several sections of trail that are repeat offenders for water issues. Thanks to trail donations and club dues, we were able to purchase tools that helped us reshape the terrain and better redirect water away from the trail.

Tree removal

Over 150 downed trees were removed or cleared by club members in 2025. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, we purchased a new Stihl chainsaw, allowing us to address fallen trees more efficiently and safely. With reliable equipment and coordinated teamwork, club members can tackle downed trees quickly while maintaining safe work practices, helping ensure the trail remains clear so riders can enjoy uninterrupted riding.
