This 11-mile route will give you a workout on both the front end and the tail end of the ride.
The first mile or so features tough climbing, with occasional rocks and a switchback or two. After that, settle into a solid ride with manageable climbs, fun descents, and plenty of roots to keep things interesting. You'll cross the park road and continue along the trail, where you'll encounter a rock feature before crossing another section of park road to connect with the Sno-Mo Trail.
Sno-Mo starts with rooty singletrack before opening into a fast, flowy mile through a beautiful stand of mature pines. Along the way, you'll encounter a couple of steady climbs and a few switchbacks.
Once the trail ends, the biggest challenge begins: a sustained climb up the park road that will put your legs to the test. At the top, you'll pass the road leading to the Gorge Overlook, a worthwhile detour with scenic views, restrooms, and benches—an ideal spot to catch your breath before continuing.
From there, continue along Park Road 51 toward the parking area. Be sure to stop at the Mohican Fire Tower along the way. Climb the tower steps to the top for a panoramic view of the park. For an especially memorable experience, time your ride to reach the tower at dusk and watch the sun set over the trees.
After visiting the fire tower, continue down the park road toward your vehicle. Look for the small opening on your left that leads directly to the trailhead.
